About Art Advisory

Art is an investment, an investment in our culture, and buying the right art is an investment in the future.

In the old days, we had access to far less. So too with art. A sales transaction was a protracted process and always conducted physically. Not any more. The world is one vast gallery and an artwork only a PDF-file away. This has made the market bigger and, accordingly, increasingly more complex to navigate. For if there is more to choose from, it follows that a large part of what is on offer won’t last. The quotient of geniuses is arguably constant.

Hence the need for an expert filter – and this is where the art adviser comes in: a trained professional, dedicated to distinguishing between the outstanding, the good, the creditable and the inferior.

When the relevant discriminations have been made, the art adviser offers an analysis and assessment followed by a recommendation.

The rest is a matter for the client. And you should buy with your heart. Fortunately, this doesn’t preclude buying with your head as well. Both heart and head should be in play.
